My recent work has concentrated upon plein air painting in the Howardian Hills to the north of York. This one of England's most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of country, with vistas in many directions over the North York Moors, The Wolds and the Vale of York. There are hidden valleys and deep woodlands, interspersed with rolling fields of wheat, barley and oats. Much of the work has featured one long valley below Scackleton, with views either down the valley or across it  to the north east. I have been working on this site for over a year, painting in different light and different seasons. This landscape is now threatened by the raw opportunities offered to the big corporations by fracking.
